As of February 2025, Saudi Arabia has implemented several updates to its travel regulations:
Vaccination Requirements:
Polio Vaccination: Effective February 1, 2025, travelers arriving from or transiting through polio-circulating countries, including Pakistan, must present a valid Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) certificate issued 4 weeks to 6 months before arrival. Exceptions apply to transit passengers not leaving the transit area.
Meningococcal Vaccination: As of February 9, 2025, the meningitis vaccination is no longer required for Umrah pilgrims. However, the polio vaccination remains mandatory.
Visa Policy Changes:
Multiple-Entry Visas: Starting February 1, 2025, Saudi Arabia has restricted multiple-entry visas for nationals of 14 countries, including Pakistan. Travelers from these nations can now only obtain single-entry visas valid for 30 days.
Hajj Pilgrimage: For the 2025 Hajj season, Saudi Arabia has prohibited children from accompanying pilgrims to ensure safety during the pilgrimage. Additionally, first-time pilgrims will be given preference to allow more Muslims the opportunity to perform Hajj.
Health and Safety:
Health Advisory: Travelers should be aware of health advisories, including recommendations on wearing seat belts and avoiding driving at night.
Cultural Norms:
Dress Code: Both men and women are expected to dress modestly in public. Avoid tight-fitting clothing and attire with profane language or images. Men and women should cover their shoulders and knees. Non-compliance may lead to penalties.
Public Behavior: Public displays of affection are discouraged. Engaging in religious activities other than Islam is prohibited. It's advisable to familiarize yourself with local customs and laws to ensure respectful conduct.
Additional Considerations:
Currency: If you're carrying more than 16,000 USD, you must declare it upon entry.
